Dementia Friendly Opticians in Newcastle

Little things make a big difference for some people, which is why we are making the effort to make sure we cater to everyone's individual needs. Here are some changes we have made to help our clients and their families:

  • 'PUSH/PULL' sign on our front door

  • 'Please ask for assistance' sign on our front door so we can help our clients into the practice

  • Arranging taxis to pick up clients and take them home

  • Our clients can request a downstairs test room

  • Our clients can request a male or female optometrist

  • Downstairs toilet

  • Refreshments available to all our clients to make them feel relaxed and at home

We encourage our existing clients and new clients to let us know as much information as possible about themselves and family members so that we can tailor make their visit to our practice and ensure they receive the best eye care we can provide.

No judgment, no pressure, just friendly staff to welcome you to our optician's practice in Heaton, Newcastle.

Andrew a Dementia Champion and staff member at Home Instead Senior Care in Newcastle, came into the practice to do a Dementia Friends awareness session for the us in March 2017. Everyone got really involved during the training day and we all learned a lot about Dementia and what we can do as a practice to improve everyone's experience at our opticians. Since this we have all made conscious efforts to exceed expectations and make our practice a lovely place to visit.

Let us know if you have any other suggestions so we can become more dementia friendly
