New Research shows that teenagers and young adults who spend five or more hours outside in the summertime increase their risk of an irreversible eye disease called age related macula degeneration (ARMD / AMD) by as much as 50%.
Nearly one in three adults (27%) put their eyes at risk by only wearing UV eye protection or sunglasses in summer and nearly one in five (19%) rarely or never where UV protection at all.
By simply having your child wear sunglasses you are helping to protect their vision and reduce the risk of blinding eye disease in later life. You are also allowing them to see more comfortably with less glare and pain (photophobia) when the sunglasses are worn.
