Our Private Eye Examination Consultations
Other than a basic NHS sight test, all our examinations & procedures are private. We offer a huge range of primary eyecare services in the practice, using up to date, and innovative equipment. These services are not NHS funded.
Some practices, such as our own, have the technology to investigate eye pathology to a very high standard. Unfortunately, the cost of purchasing the equipment to perform such techniques is not funded in any way by the NHS sight test fee, or by any grants from NHS funding sources. Considerable private investment has been made (over £70,000 since 2002) to have high technology equipment in the practice, which is available privately to all patients (NHS or Private). This equipment allows us to refine our diagnoses of eye diseases, and to monitor patients within the practice rather than send them un-necessarily to hospital eye departments for investigation. This prevents undue strain on the resources at the local hospital Ophthalmology departments.

About Full Eye Examinations
At Querido & Davidson, we provide additional procedures to private eye examination patients, as they pay almost double the amount paid by the NHS for a basic sight test. The duration of this examination is much longer (up to 60 minutes), and the equipment used is also more advanced. Until the funding issues are resolved, we are unable to offer equal service in return for inadequte NHS remuneration. NHS patients are invited to upgrade to a full eye examination, if they prefer, and pay the supplementary fee to match the private eye examination fee.
The additional procedures we provide during a full eye examination are to aid in the detection of early signs of eye disease, peripheral retinal abnormalities, and visual performance changes. A summary of additional these procedures is as follows:
