The UK's oldest contact lens society celebrates 40 years

The North East Contact Lens Society celebrates 40 years this year, and to celebrate they are holding a two day conference at Matfen Hall Hotel, Northumberland on Sunday 9th & Monday 10th October.

NECLS Chairman, John Davidson of Querido & Davidson Optometrists, in Newcastle upon Tyne, is also celebrating his 40th birthday this year so for him it will be a major event to mark the end of his celebrations!

"With a mixture of business seminars, workshops and lectures over two days we hope to create a very interactive and informal education event.".

It is not just CET points that will attract delegates to the conference. "Our 30th anniversary conference in 2001 was a roaring success and this event will be even busier! We will be holding a Gala dinner with live entertainment as expected, but the overall focus will be on spending time with friends and colleagues while improving & sharing clinical skills and business acumen in a first class hotel venue."

The society have already received generous sponsorship from a number of major contact lens manufacturers for the event, and are expecting a sell out with 100 attendees on both days of the conference.

Contact Lenses

We fit a huge variety of contact lenses types to patients across the whole of the UK. We supply lenses to people of all ages, & all prescription types. Using corneal topography and slit lamp image capture we provide the highest standard of care to all our contact lenses wearing patients.

We specialise in iGo OVC, Ortho-K and Paragon CRT Orthokeratology work for all ages from 6 upwards. We are an accredited Chromagen contact lens practice. We supply varifocal contact lenses and contact lenses to correct astigmatism. We can also supply theatrical contact lenses for television productions.

In 2006 we were awarded the title of Contact lens practice of the year at the UK Optician awards.

Keratoconus Eye Care

We are a keratoconus friendly practice, and are experienced in the following keratoconus management methods:
