Low sun driving glare problems
Published: Wednesday 14th September 2011
Low sun in the sky today as the Season changes to Autumn. That glare problem always seems difficult to manage. Often sunglasses just don't cut through the glare, don't you find?
What is the solution?
TINTED lenses - these are found in MOST "off the peg" sunglasses. They reduce brightness only and do NOT reduce glare
POLARISING Lenses - Originally marketed by the Polaroid company. These are available in many high end sunglass ranges such as Serengetti (often judged the world's best sunglasses for driving), and Maui Jim (Hawaii based all round holiday sun eyewear).
Polarising lenses reduce brightness like tinted lenses BUT also reduce glare and reflection from oncoming vehicles, and wet roads. They also allow better visibility when looking into water on sailing and boat trips.
They are in a different league to tinted lenses
