The management of keratoconus normally progresses through the following stages:

• Wearing spectacles
• Wearing soft or gas permeable contact lenses

Some keratoconus patients go onto the following stages at a later date

• Wearing scleral contact lenses
• Undergoing corneal transplantation surgery
