What are the disadvantages of Orthokeratology? |
- An overnight retainer lens is needed most nights
(68% of patients only need to wear lenses alternate
nights at 1 month from fitting)
- You will need to use other vision correction for
the first 2 weeks while the treatment takes effect
- You will need to clean & disinfect the lenses
every day on removal
- There is a risk of eye infection if the lenses
are not cared for correctly using the solutions advised
- The therapy is NOT permanent
- The therapy reduces its effect if the retainer
lens is not worn. Your prescription increases by approximately
-0.25DS per day, back to your eye's natural prescription
over a few weeks
- Most people become more short sighted in later
life, and the lenses will need re-adjustment at that
stage
