We are open 6 days a week, provide late night opening twice per week and we are open on a Saturday to make sure that you can be seen at a time that suits you. Our Story
Our practice was established in 1956 by Victor Graham.
John Davidson, our fantastic optician, decided on his career at the age of just 5.
That is when he told his mother, that he would like to become an Optometrist. He had spent so much time at his local Optician's practice, for regular eye tests, spectacle repairs and having an eyepatch applied - to help manage his lazy eye.
It took almost another 20 years to achieve that goal. All of that ambition resulted in him qualifying in September 1994.
In December 2002 John Davidson took over the practice of Querido & Partners, Newcastle optician and completely changed the way that eye care is delivered to its clients.
Our Practice History
The Optometry practice at 196 Chillingham Rd was established in 1956 by Mr. Victor Graham. Mr Graham took the freehold for the property in 1962. Prior to establishment, the premises were used as a bakery.
Mr. Jan Querido took over the practice from Mr. Victor Graham in 1985. The "new boy" (as he was known to Mr. Graham's previous patients), Mr. Querido, was in the practice for a number of years, having moved from his previous practice in Killingworth which was set up in 1977.
John Davidson took over the practice in December 2002, retaining Mr. Querido as a consultant on a part time basis until his retirement in December 2005
John Davidson and Jan Querido met in 1994. at John's final qualifying examinations in Manchester, where Jan sat as an examiner for John's spectacle dispensing examination. Their instant mutual respect helped them to establish a firm friendship. Jan Querido retired from the practice in December 2005
